I thought the experiments really showed how people react in different situations. It is interesting that all of the experiments show how people follow others. How if someone is given a job they will do that job even if they know that they will eventually hurt someone else. Human nature only needs to think that they are doing something important in order to follow someone without any thought to themselves about what they are doing is wrong.
Social influence is the way people act when even a job or the way they are treated. When someone is given a job that they don’t normally have then they act completely different then any other time. When I am partnered up with someone on a project, I act more like a leader. I show my ideas and I do as much as I can to help out or do most of the work. I usual procrastinate a lot. Also when I have to speak to people that I don’t know I can do it but when someone doesn’t tell me to or if I am by myself it is very hard for me to come up with the courage to talk to the stranger.
The most interesting thing I learned in this class is the mind is a very powerful thing, the fact that the mind controls your action in situations that you normally would not think of. Your unconscious mind is where your disorders come from and your wonder about all the things that happen to yourself. There are different reactions that people you normally thought wouldn’t do actually will do in order to obey someone are do their job. I also believe that your dreams are the most interesting thing someone has. Dreams can be unlocking your unconscious mind and can show what you are most stressed about through different interpretations.

I believe that psychological disorders are mainly in your unconscious mind that interferes with one's everyday life. In the text, psychological disorders are ongoing patterns of thought, feelings, and actions that are deviant, distressful, and /or dysfunctional. Abnormal is not always dealing with psychological disorders. I think that men that dress in pink is abnormal but to them and some others it is completely normal. When I have sugar I act with a lot of energy and aggression which will make me seem abnormal but that is how some people react to sugar. Not everyone reacts the same way in certain situations. There is such a high stander in society that it seems that everyone could have a disorder but everyone reacts and thinks differently. In order to have a disorder one needs to really not have control on their reactions in situations that make them sometimes destructive to others. Everyone has an abnormal habit to others some how in some way.
I believe that I have a disorder call Obsessive-compulsive disorder. This disorder is an anxiety disorder characterized by unwanted repetitive thoughts and/ or actions. These senseless or offensive thoughts never go way and "haunt" you. I have the obsessive-compulsive disorder because when ever I get done eating I have to wipe my mouth area at least five times and then a few times later on during the day. It is really annoying but I always think that there are food stains on my face and I hate the fact that it could be there.
The most interesting thing I learned is the diagnoses of schizophrenia is 1 in 100 which is a lot of people and there is a set of quadruplets that all have this disorder. It is interesting that they all have the disorder and I wonder, and I am sure others too, that a lot of disorders can be inherited and developed by how you are raised. Everyone have different interpretations on all situations which make it difficult to understand where disorders come from.

My personality is different than my friends. I am hyper at times and other times I seem to be too mature for my age. I can get really crazy when I am with my friends and if I have a little sugar. My friends like that I can make them laugh and smile. I think it is a positive thing that I can be funny and crazy with my friend and I think that it is a good trait to be serious when I am working. I am a studious person and I try my hardest at school. I like to play games and joke around with people but I do like to try to get all of my work done as soon as possible, which is a very good trait to have. I am very caring, more caring than I want to be, sometimes. I try to be mean, but it doesn’t work out the way I want it to. I think it is a positive trait to be caring. I think all people just need someone to care about them. I am also happy person, not much can make me made or sad. I usually am always happy or hyper. I like it is a positive trait to be a happy go lucky person. I’m shy at times and I can be cowardly. I won’t do certain thing because I’m scared of what people may think of me or I don’t want to get into trouble. I don’t think that cowardly is a good trait to have. I get nervous and sometimes can’t handle certain situations. My nerves always get the best of me, so I think it is a bad trait to have.
I am a pessimistic person. I like to be careful in life and be prepared. I am optimistic some days but I like to be a knowing to what the future. Most of the time I say I am going to fail a test that I studied really hard, but I usually do a lot better than I think to then I feel better. When I am optimistic I always get disappointed in my grade for doing bad and so I don’t like being optimistic to I am not disappointed. I also like being pessimistic to the fact that I am more prepared for trips. I always like that it will rain or I will eat more than I usually can handle. That way I have enough food for all trips. I end up with too much food and I have some left over so I am able to give others some food when they need it. I am happy to be a pessimistic.
My personality changes mainly when there is an important job for me. I like to joke around and have fun, but if there is something that must get done I am serious about getting it done. It helps me to priorities my values and understands what it important. It will help with getting the job done. I also change from a happy mood into a sadder mood whenever someone close to me is having a bad day or is putting me down. I wouldn’t want to do or say anything to make that person hate me so I just tend to be more quiet and give them the space that they need. It helps me to me not so hyper and helps me rethink what I am about to do.
I am usually always in denial. When I see something like shoplifting or something on TV that is a home video I always think that it is fake. I don’t believe what is in front of my eyes. I could eye witness something and don’t believe it in my head. I know it but then I don’t what to know it, but you just can’t get it out of your head. I also have repression of a lot of things that happened in my childhood. I didn’t have that bad of time growing up but something things that happened to me that we bad like breaking my arm I just don’t remember much of it. As the years go on the memory slow fades more and more. I block out a lot of bad things in my life if I want to or not. Displacement is another that I do. I always beat up my pillow or do something when I am mad at someone. I can’t beat them up then I would get into more trouble. It just happens like that and once a month I can’t control my emotions very well so I try to be by myself a lot. So don't get in my face when I am PMSING!!

Solving problems is a very interesting subject. The fact that through trial and error we learn all the basic idea we need to understand. We use algorithms, step-by-step procedures that guarantee a solution. Sometimes that fact that there is no pattern for strategy is also interesting. Puzzles that people encounter are answered in our minds like a flash of reality. I word insight brings all of the ideas to together of one common solution.
Creativity defines me very well. I am very creative in different ways. I can make up stories out of thin air and I can excaudate many details that make the stories seem more adventurous, more imaginative. The stories and image I can tell and make others believe is what I am best at. Being creative can save much time and can help in companies to promote their product. I rather be creative then good at art, because there is no art without creativity.
I think that the twin and adoption studies were quite interesting twins acutely score about the same on tests. Adoption enhances that intelligence scores of mistreated or neglected children seem to be different from what I have thought. Fraternal twins are just like any other kind of siblings but are treated like the same because people expect them to be. Then you have to factor in how the children were treated to understand their development and understand why they have certain test scores. I always wondered what it would be like to have a twin and understand the importance of that understandment.

Memory is very important to defining who we are as human beings. It is the way we learn and teach others of past experiences. Memory is the way we know what to do anything when the right time comes. If we didn't have any memory we would know how to do anything. We would walk around the world and die soon after because we can't protect ourselves and don't know how to take care ourselves. If a person can't remember after 20 second then that person most likely can't do anything on his or her own. I could not live in Clive's wife's shoes and she handles the memory damage really well. I would not be able to handle him not remembering anything that I said. I feel that my memory is not the best but I am glad to have that instead of nothing at all. I don't know what I would do if I had Clive's memory. I would be paranoid and so scared not to remember anything.
I don't see my memories working any differently than before. I think that my memories are the same as always because I don't have much of a memory from before. My memory sometimes works differently than other. I usually need something to remind me of anything but I can't recall anything off hand without hints. I trust my memories because they are in my mind. In the reemerging and forgetting video people can make others remember memories different by distorting the truth and making the fantasy seem like reality. I am mainly the same way. People can tell me things and I would believe the truth and the lie even if they are complete opposites. Monday, November 2, 2009

Classical Conditioning: If a stimulus that results in an emotional response is repeated alongside another stimulus which does not cause an emotional response, eventually the second stimulus will result in the same emotional response. Classical Conditioning is thus ‘learning by association’. An example would be like a mother feeding a child. A mother would have the microwave running to warm the food and then feed the child. Afterwards the child knows that every time that the microwave runs the child would receive food. Operant Conditioning: Is the conditioning of actions and consequences. Classical conditioning forms an association between two stimuli. Operant conditioning forms an association between a behavior and a consequence. It is interesting because they can work together or be completely different. You can train someone with a classical condition to a different condition through operant conditioning. In my life it is interesting to learn about natural behaviors and if you can train a behavior to something completely opposite. Having some natural conditioning of certain behaviors and want to change them there are was for me to have a different result.
Positive reinforcement is the presentation of something pleasant or rewarding immediately following a behavior. When I was little I would get to stay up late if I didn’t wine or act badly. I loved to watch TV but my brothers were the ones that wanted to go to bed because the programs were not appropriate for me.
A negative reinforcement is the avoiding of the presentation of something bad or negative. When I was little I would do everything that I was told to do, like clean my room, so I wouldn’t get grounded. I was very convincing back in the day.
Punishment is the punishing someone for doing as they were suppose to buy physical pain or the lack of an award. When I was really little my brothers blamed me for breaking something that they broke and I got grounded for it. It made me very mad and I cried for the entire day.
The thing that interested me the most was the punishment. It is interesting that punishment behavior is suppressed and not forgotten, teaches discrimination, teaches fear, and may increase aggression when coping with problems. What I reminds me most of all is the new child punishment laws. When I was little parents were able to spank their kids and it hurt but now a days you can because it would be consider being child abuse. Kids today can get away with anything and parents have no power to control them. Kids run wild in the shops and will not stop crying at all. I believe that children can endure some physical punishment as long as it doesn’t go to far. This is why I am not planning on having children in the future. They control everything and I don’t believe that they should be qualified to do so.

1. Sensation is what you sense with your 5 senses: hear, see, smell, touch, and taste. Perception is how you interprate what you sense. Like tasting a lemon, you perceive it to be sower, but not everyone have the same perception, because someone else, like me, will not think it is sower but watery.
2. The best thing I read in this chapter is the infants on the Visual Cliff. It is interesting that they know depth perception and know that the floor is lover on the other side. It doesn't change the way I think about anything. It applies by knowing that at the infant stage you can develop enough and learn to know depth perception.
3. Even 24,576 Measurements Couldn't Prove Plants Have Souls- Gustuv Fechner wanted to prove that plants had souls. He did experiments to measure the relationship between stimulus and the resulting sensations. In one experiment he took 24,576 measurement and then wrote a book to help his progress.
It is interesting to know if plants have souls or not. If anyone had a spirt inside their body is beyond me. I changes but wonder if they do or don't. It applies by some people with not eat plants anymore because they would not want to kill anything with a soul.
